Fast Tracks

If your Pack is interested, your immediate attention is required. You can download the required form at the bottom of this page and fax it to (615) 297-9916 no later than Monday, May 19th at 9 a.m. We are only allowed to have 20% of our Packs participate.

If you answer yes to any of the following questions, Fast Tracks is just the program for you!

  • Do you often find it difficult to develop a high-quality program that holds boys' interest?
  • Do the challenges facing today's busy families mean missed advancement opportunities at home for your Cub Scouts?
  • Have you had boys drop out of Scouting because they were not progressing at a rate consistent with their peers?
  • Do you find yourself wading through a huge pile of books and materials each month to create a dynamic meeting?

How can Fast Tracks help me as a leader?

This Web-based, advancement-rich program was developed to help den leaders organize meetings so that the majority of boys' advancement takes place in the den alongside their fellow Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, or Webelos Scouts. Fast Tracks is available for all levels of Cub Scouting and any size den. This program provides den leaders with easy, step-by-step instructions, as well as an inclusive listing of materials. It takes the guesswork out of planning the den meeting.

Moreover, the outline for each program level ensures the completion of rank requirements in a timely manner and assures that each boy will reach significant advancement on a more regular basis.

How does this differ from what I am doing now?

Fast Tracks is Web-based. All preparation outlines and materials needed are at your fingertips, wherever you have Internet access.

Fast Tracks follows the standard program. It is based on a nine month program (approximately 16 den meetings), with summertime activity supplements. It relies on Cub Scout Program Helps as an additional resource.

Fast Tracks is den-meeting focused. At-home advancement activity can serve as reinforcement to the den meeting activities.

But does the Fast Tracks den advancement plan work?

  • It makes the den leader's job easier.
  • It ensures delivery of a high quality program.
  • It provides measurable results.
In 2006, this pilot program was expanded to 10 councils in the Central Region of the Boy Scouts of America. The program consistently increased quality of delivery, which resulted in keeping boys active in the den all year.

What did the pilot program prove?

  • Advancement is a key factor in keeping boys and parents engaged and active in the Scouting program.
  • Parents in today's busy world find it difficult to make the time to work on advancement in the home.
  • Den leaders have a high success rate when implementing a simple, easy-to-plan, easy to-manage program to foster advancement.
  • Boys who are active in Cub Scouting will
    • Always give their best effort
    • Have higher self confidence
    • Treat others with respect

Great . but what do the den leaders who have used Fast Tracks say?

"I think it has been a great year! Everything is laid out and makes things much easier. I started the year with 11 boys and I still have 11."-Bear Cub Scout den leader, Indianapolis, Indiana

"What I really liked about your pilot program is that it's the first resource I've seen that the council does to help den leaders. We can all learn from each other ways to make it more fun! Thank you! It is much appreciated."-Wolf Cub Scout den leader, Appleton, Wisconsin

"Overall, I love the program. It is nice to have the lessons well laid out; from a leader's perspective, I find this to be much better than just trying to pull together a meeting out of my hat."-den leader

"The pilot program is very helpful for a busy leader like me. It's a good program."-Webelos den leader, Omaha, Nebraska

"Speaking for my two assistants and myself, in addition to promoting advancement, we have found the program beneficial in that it takes much of the burden off of us for planning den meeting activities."-den leader, St. Louis, Missouri
