District News

Highland Rim uses Roundtable for Training
The Roundtable for Highland Rim is helping train new and veteran leaders in scouting. The recent roundtables for Highland Rim have averaged over 70 adult leaders in attendance from the surrounding areas who want to be trained. The leaders are getting Specific Leader Training and Health/Safety Training. The training staff, headed by Training Chairman Connie Anderson, is doing a great job of teaching Scout leaders the essentials they need to be successful. The adult leaders of Highland Rim have benefited from this style of training at the Roundtables.

New District Chairman
Highland Rim has a new District Chairman for 2008. Jerry Smith will now serve as the District Chairman of the Highland Rim District. Jerry is a veteran of the Scouts and served as the District Chairman a couple of years ago. He practices law in Dickson and is a respected attorney in the community. He is determined to make Highland Rim the best district in the Middle Tennessee Council and will help the district in any way he can. The district committee for Highland Rim and the volunteers are excited about having Jerry Smith serve as District Chairman.

New location for Day Camp
This year's Cub Scout Day Camp has a new location in Highland Rim. The camp will be held at Cedar Crest Day Camp in Hickman County. The camp will run from June 16th thru June 20th. The camp had been at Montgomery Bell State Park for the past several years; the camp was very successful there. The new location at Cedar Crest should allow the camp to be more successful and have more than 161 Cub Scouts in attendance this year. Cedar Crest offers great facilities with a refreshing camping experience. If you have any questions or would like to attend Cub Scout Day Camp, Connie Anderson can be reached at 615-948-2119.
