Hermitage Pinewood Derby
Pack 84 held its annual Pinewood Derby on January 25. It was a fun day of racing, with over 50 cars entered. Many packs in the Hermitage District have used the services of Mr. Vaughn Hawkins to run their Pinewood Derby race. He is a true expert, and everyone has an enjoyable time with him at the helm. At the end of a great day, Pack 84 presented Mr. Hawkins with a framed print signed by all of the pack in appreciation for his service. The pack also gave him a walking stick with the following inscription:
“Mr. Vaughn Hawkins, 1-25-15. In recognition of your years of service to Pack 84. You made our Pinewood Derby events easy, successful and fun. Thanks!”
On behalf of the many packs you have worked with – Thank You Mr. Hawkins for your friendship, your enthusiasm, and your support of Scouting!
Pack 70 Enjoyed a Special Service for Scout Sunday, February 8
Old Hickory UMC put on a special service honoring Scouting on our 105th Birthday. The Pastor recognized both Pack 70 and Troop 777. When asked, nearly half the congregation indicated they had been involved with Scouting. Troop 21 is in the record book for all five Hawkins brothers attaining Eagle Scout. The Hawkins family also just witnessed their grandson attain Eagle Scout last weekend. In the 2010 Anniversary Year, the Pack made a wood-burned plaque thanking the Church for their 60 years of support. Pack 70 is proud to have a Charter Organization that is so robust in its efforts to support the community and Scouting.
