Was and Is to Come
It was a great summer in the Hermitage District. We had several troops camping at Boxwell, and several others went out of state. Also, coming up in the winter, we have one troop registered to go to Philmont for Winter Camp. I am encouraging all troops in the Hermitage District to attend a winter camp.
November and December is a time when the Boy Scouts can really shine. These are two months where dedicated service is needed. The Hermitage District is encouraging all their units to find a Homeless Shelter, Rescue Mission, or just form your own Winter Clothing Drive to pass out clothing to your area homeless. Help someone who is not expecting it and you will have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS.
We had a great Kick-off and orientation for our popcorn program! I am very excited about the number of units participating and looking forward to the District having a great income from their popcorn sale.
September was a great month for Boy Scouts and Volunteers in the Hermitage District. We had BALOO Training for the Volunteers but more importantly we had a Merit Badge School where several Mt. Juliet Companies came out on a Saturday to help Boy Scouts earn their Chemistry, Engineering and Architectural Merit Badges. Over 40 boys showed up to get their badges. Thanks to Environmental Science Corp. and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
