OA Puts Camporee On Ice
More than 100 Scouts from all over the district enjoyed the Winter Camporee at Parish Reservation in January. The wet weather dried up just in time for our local Order of the Arrow chapter to put on a well-orchestrated event, filled with orienteering and other patrol-based activities. Hats off to OA Chapter Advisor Quentin Bolden, Eagle Scout Jack Adamson, and their team for the service and preparation they dedicated to this camporee.

Good Turn Saves a Life
One day last fall, Noel “Trey” Edward Gentry, III was enjoying his lunch in the cafeteria at school. Suddenly, one of his classmates began choking on a piece of food. Gentry, instead of panicking, sprang into action by applying the Heimlich maneuver on his imperiled peer. The food dislodged, and Gentry’s bravery saved the day. Gentry is a Second Class Scout in Troop 456.

Ahoy, Mates
The Trail of Tears district is glad to welcome Ship 43, a new Sea Scouts unit in Smyrna chartered by VFW Post 8422. This ship is one of only six in the Middle Tennessee Council, and it is the only Sea Scouts unit south of Nashville. Ship 43 is named in honor of World War II battleship USS Tennessee (BB-43). Classified under Venturing, Ship 43 will be part of the Venturing Rendezvous on April 12-14 and the Pfeffer Sea Scout Regatta, May 3-5. For more information, contact Mark Foley.
