Hi everyone! This is the Trail of Tears District. Thank You for Looking at our page. The Trail of Tears District serves the Rutherford and Cannon County areas.
The Trail of Tears District consists of 30 Cub Scout Packs, 22 Boy Scouts Troops, 5 Venturing Crews, 1 Sea Scout unit and 6 Exploring Post. The Trail of Tears District serves over 1,500 youth and has over 800 Adult Volunteers. To find a unit close to you, please go to www.beascout.org.
Trail of Tears District is the Heart of the Middle TN Council and is constantly growing the Scouting Program. Come check us out and find a unit that fits your needs. Trail of Tears Adult Leaders and Scouts have a great time with activities year around with lots of Fun and Exciting Outdoor Experience that teaches life skills. Friends of Scouting
In June we achieved our Friends of Scouting goal! A huge thank you to everyone who helped along the way. Our Chairman, Ken Halliburton supported us from the very beginning and helped to push us over the top! We broke new ground in Cannon County and Smyrna and have laid the ground work to have a successful 2016 campaign as well. Thank you again to each and every person who helped in any way to ensure our success.
Trail of Tears is working to ensure quality support for our units. Since we have so many units, we need lots of help to reach all of them. We are building up our Commissioner staff in order to better serve our units. If you or someone you know is interested in being a part of our Commissioner team please contact Jason Flannery. We would love to have you serve as a Unit Commissioner to help support our District. Round Table is one of the most important place to be for Information. Scouting volunteers from Trail of Tears District meet once a month at their monthly Roundtable Meeting. This is the best opportunity to share information about upcoming Scouting events, trainings and activities that you can share with your Pack, Troop or Crew.
- Round table meets every 1st Thursday of the month at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (315 E Main St. Murfreesboro) at 7pm. Everyone is invited; more the better. You will want to have someone form every unit there. For more information please contact Kevin Phillips at firstname.lastname@example.org the meeting usually last until 8:30pm.
- District Committee meeting meets every 4th Thursday of the month at the American Red Cross Building (501 Memorial Blvd, Murfreesboro) at 7pm this meeting is for the District Committee Chairs to meet and discuss the actions of the district. Finance, Membership, Advancements, Training, Camping, Activities, OA, Venturing, and PR. - District Commissioners meeting meets the same time as the District Committee but in a different room in the American Red Cross Building. This meeting is the 4th Thursday of the month at the American Red Cross Building (501 Memorial Blvd, Murfreesboro) at 7pm to discuss the Units. Commissioners of the district are Adult leaders who help Scout units succeed. They coach and consult with adult leaders of Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops, and Venturing crews.
