July 13-19, 2008

Are you ready...to learn the "Eleven Skills of Leadership?"

Are you ready...to learn how to be a good leader?

Are you ready...for a week of fun and a lifetime of memories?

What is National Youth Leadership Training and who can attend?

National Youth Leadership Training (formerly known as Brownsea) is an action-packed, exciting program designed to provide youth members of the Middle Tennessee Council, Boy Scouts of America, with leadership skills and experience that they can use in their home troops and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others.

A NYLT course is ideal for training patrol leaders and senior patrol leaders. It can also be a valuable experience for other older Scouts.

In order to attend an NYLT course this year, a Scout must have the following qualifications by July 1, 2007:

  1. Be 13 years of age and have completed the 7th grade
  2. Be a First Class Scout
exceptions will not be made for the age or rank requirements

Each Scout must bring a completed Health & Medical Record form (signed by a doctor) in order to participate in the course.

When, Where and What is the Cost of NYLT?

National Youth Leadership Training will be held at the Charles E. Parish Scout Reservation in Walling, TN. Scouts should plan to arrive at 11:30 AM on Sunday, July 13rd. They will be ready to depart at 11:30 AM on Saturday, July 19th. The cost is $150.00 for the week. Those who are recommended by their Scoutmaster as meeting the above requirements, should send a $50.00 deposit and a completed, signed application to the Scout office as soon as possible. Enrollment will be limited to 64 participants (eight patrols). The decision for the 64 participants for 2007 will be made by the end of June. By July, all applicants will receive a letter advising them of either their participant OR waiting list status.

REMEMBER: Participants must stay through the entire course so CHECK YOUR SCHEDULES CAREFULLY!
