District News

News You Can Use
I want to welcome and thank all of our new district committee people for 2008. Also, thank you to Frank Miller with Dell who chaired our FOS campaign. Thanks to Tina Tew and Michelle Rittenbury for leading our Cub-n-family and to T275 for hosting our Camporee. Also, I want to extend a very special thanks to Julie Shuster and Bass Pro Shops for their continued support of Scouting!

Plan Ahead
These next 3 months are going to be filled with fun and activities, so please plan accordingly. April will be a big month for camping. The first weekend of April, the greater Dan Beard District will be holding our Cub-n-family treasure hunt at Boxwell! Please encourage your units and families to attend, as there will be festivities and even some pirates! On the Boy Scout side, we will be headed to Camp Tubb the 2nd weekend of April for some fun and frivolity! Finally, Day Camp will take place the first week of June along with our annual resident and Boy Scout camps at Boxwell!

An Important Change
This year, the MTCBSA will be doing things differently regarding our annual Program Previews. We will NOT be holding a District Program Preview in August this year (it will be replaced by our Roundtable). Rather, we are holding 2 different Program Preview/Family Fun days in June. Our volunteers will get all of the information that they need, and after they meet, their families can participate in some fun.

Personal Notes
The Dan Beard District would like to thank Flem Goins and Lake Providence for hosting our District Banquet! It was great! Also, Congratulations to all who achieved recognitions and most notably the following: our Pathfinder recipient David Roos, our two newest Long Rifle members Tracy Corwin and Steve Foster, and our distinguished veterans who combined for well over 100 years of service to Scouting!
