Thank You
The first thing we must say is THANK YOU to Troop 466 of Waynesboro for hosting the District Fall Camporee. Their Troop number was incorrectly noted in the last issue of Jet Trails. Apologies! The Scouts of Troop 466 did an awesome job in preparation and planning, and were wonderful hosts.
District Banquet
The David Crockett District awarded over 60 leadership training and unit awards at our annual District Banquet held on Boy Scout Birthday, February 8th. Hugh Travis, our new Scout Executive, was in attendance to meet and greet many of our great volunteers and Scouts. Congratulations to Renee Drake and Larry Sattler, David Crockett District's 2007 District Award of Merit recipients! And, to Boy Scout Zac Green of Troop 411 and Cub Scout Jake Byrd of Pack 381 - this year's Robert E. Curry Awardees!
Centennial Quality Award
David Crockett District is a Centennial Quality District and 31 of our 51 traditional units earned the Centennial Quality Unit Award thanks to the leadership of the Volunteer leadership of our units and the District Committee! Lead by our illustrious District Chairman Donnie Moore and Never-Tiring District Commissioner Cindy Carter, and with the undeniable help of Finance Chair Paul Plant, Activities Chair Larry Sattler, Training Chair Gordon Slack, Camping Chair Mikel Venable, Advancement Chair Whitney Mitchell, Eagle Board Coordinator DeWitt Booth, Order of the Arrow Advisor JC Anderson, Membership Chair Eddie Cleghorn, Day Camp Directors Renee Drake and Amanda Venable, Program Directors Traci Lynn Hobbs and Troy Bennett - we couldn't go wrong! These chairmen and their teams help (so many of you!) to serve the units of the David Crockett District in order to serve the youth of Lincoln, Giles, Lawrence and Wayne Counties.
