Good Turn for America

The Good Turn for America initiative addresses three critical areas of need in our society: hunger, homelessness and poor health.  Through this multi-year initiative, the Boy Scouts of America aims to accomplish the following:

  • Inspire youth and adult leaders in and out of Scouting to higher levels of service and volunteerism.
  • Provide additional program experiences to help youth members learn qualities of good citizenship and gain a sense of belonging to,  and being needed in, their communities.
  • Build service collaborations with community organizations across every community in the country.
  • Affirm the BSA as the nation's leading collaborating organization in community service.
  • Heighten our nation's awareness of BSA's service commitment to all communities and citizens.

Units should have received their unit identification numbers through the mail in late March/Early  April. If you do not receive this information, please contact the Scout Office.

2007 Scouting For Food Good Turn Project

Scouting For Food will be the focus for our council-wide good turn project this year. Your unit is asked to collect food between October 20th and November 17th. This approach allows your unit to choose the weekend(s) that best fits your unit calendar.

Your unit can choose to deliver food items that you collect to the food bank or agency in your local community anytime during this collection period, or bring your collected food to your district's popcorn pickup location on Saturday November 17th

Units are encouraged to deliver brief articles with pictures to local newspapers for publication.

All youth and adults participants will be eligible to receive the 2007 Scouting for food patch upon receipt of the participation documentation form below.

Participation forms must be given to your district executive or faxed to the Scout service center (615) 297-9916 by Wednesday November 28th to receive your patches
